A B2B digital marketing campaign to promote Sapphire Balconies’ 2019 April Fool’s video has generated the client’s ‘best ever’ results on social media. Our experienced team was tasked with promoting Sapphire’s spoof video announcing the launch of a built-in balcony irrigation system on YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.
The impressive social media stats we compiled to measure the campaign’s success show that contrary to the famous saying, you can fool a lot of the people a lot of the time! Sapphire’s hoax video achieved a grand total of 214,656 impressions (the number of times the content was displayed) and 59,061 views across the four social media platforms. On Twitter alone, there were 93,522 impressions and 37,044 views. We believe these results demonstrate our expertise in promoting our client’s business and brand on social media, as well as encouraging our extensive trade press contacts to engage with the campaign.
Creating The Gardony concept
Creating a convincing name for Sapphire’s imaginary new product for the April Fool’s Video was key to tricking unsuspecting viewers. Working closely with the client, we put our well-honed brainstorming skills to the test and came up with ‘The Gardony’ concept. The hoax video, produced by Sapphire, was filled with ‘fake facts’ and mocked-up photos to fool viewers into believing ‘The Gardony’ was a real development from Sapphire’s state-of-the-art Innovation Hub, designed to eliminate the need for messy manual watering of planters and privacy shrubs on balconies.

An experienced B2B marketing agency based in Surrey, Leaf Communications has helped many clients across different sectors to promote their business and engage their target audience through social media. Sapphire’s now legendary April Fool’s Videos are just one example of how our social media savvy team can bring creativity and expertise to a digital media campaign – real or hoax!
